The PeopleCert online exam system is called Web Based Exam Driver and involves the presence of a human supervisor who checks online that the exam is been carried out correctly.

Instructions and procedures on how to book and take online certification exams with PeopleCert

Preliminary requirements

Before your exam day, you should check that your computer meets these system requirements:

  • Windows® 11, Windows® 11S Windows® 10, Windows® 10S or macOS High Sierra (10.13)onwards
  • Dual-core 2.4GHz CPU or faster with at least 4GB of RAM
  • Ensure one of the following browsers is installed and updated to the latest version: Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Opera, or Safari. Other browsers are not compatible with the Web Based Exam Driver.
  • Maintain an active Full-Time/Broadband internet connection with a minimum speed of 4Mbps.
  • Have a 16-bit monitor (at least 15”) with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.
  • Equip yourself with a keyboard and mouse, or another pointing device, set to English characters.
  • Have a web camera, either integrated into your computer or external, capable of 360-degree rotation as you will be required to demonstrate during the exam. Mobile phones cannot be used for exams or as a substitute for the web camera.
  • Ensure availability of speakers and microphone. (Headsets are permitted only during exam onboarding.

N.B.: For the best exam experience, it is recommended to utilize a personal computer.
If opting to use a work computer, it's important to note that such systems may have restrictions that could impact the functionality of the Web Based Exam Driver, potentially hindering a successful exam experience. Should you choose to use a work computer, ensure your organization's IT support department is available to assist on exam day, as you will need to share your computer screen, microphone, and camera.

Before the exam day

Phase 1 - Exam purchase and scheduling

PeopleCert exams can be purchased on this site. Upon successful completion, you will receive a voucher code via email that you will need to be able to take the exam.

Register for the exam accessing PeopleCert candidate’s platform, using the voucher code received by iLEARN after your purchase and following the instructions in the Book your exam instructions.

We recommend to book the exam at least 3 working days before desired exam date.

Phase 2 – Prevent technical issues

  1. Make sure that your computer meets the technical requirements described above
  2. At least 24 hours prior the exam, connect to the Web Based Exam Driver and run the compatibility check. It is mandatory to:
    1. Use the same computer you will use on the exam day
    2. Use the same computer set up (camera, headset, etc.) and network you will use on the exam day
    3. Run the compatibility check in the same room where you will take the exam.
  3. About 2 hours before the exam, repeat the same compatibility check described above.
    We strongly advise rechecking your computer's compatibility, especially if there have been any Operating System updates since your initial check. OS updates can alter configurations, so it's wise to ensure everything is in order before your exam to avoid potential technical issues.

If the compatibility check identifies any issues, or you experience technical issues on your exam day, please contact immediately PeopleCert technical support team.

Phase 3 – Prepare for your exam day

Before your exam day, remember to:

  • Add your mobile/cell phone number (including country code), to your PeopleCert Candidate Profile.
  • Disable any Virtualisation Software such as VMware, Virtual PC, Virtual Box or Sandbox. For exam security reasons, please also close any applications that could affect the exam process, such as chat, desktop, sharing and mail client applications
  • Prepare your exam environment to meet the security requirements requested:
    • There's only one entrance and exit visible through your webcam during the exam
    • The room must be private without transparent walls or windows
    • Ensure there's no background noise, and you're alone in the room
    • Clear walls and desk/table of unauthorized items like posters, post-it notes, papers, and books
    • If allowed, keep note paper or resources on your desk. Show them to the proctor upon request
    • No visible screens other than the one used for the exam or a second device for an open book exam
    • Maintain adequate lighting without directing light towards the webcam for clear visibility to the proctor
  • Read and follow the Web Based Exam Driver instructions in Section 6 the Web Based Online Proctored exams Guide. Please note:
    • If you are using a work computer and have problems when running the Compatibility Check, please consult your IT department to check your organisation’s corporate policies regarding accessibility to peoplecert.org domain or Audio/Video Capture and Screen Sharing via the browser
    • Corporate networks and/or VPN access may impact the service delivery of your exam. You are advised to consult your IT department before your exam day if you have corporate network and/or VPN access
  • Check your Identification document (ID) meets these criteria:
    • Be current and valid
    • The document should not be a photocopy
    • Includes a recognizable photo of you
    • Be a government-issued national/state/province identity card that is recognized by the country
    • in which you are a citizen or permanent resident
    • Contain your full date of birth
    • Contain your First/Middle Name(s) and Last Name in English (Latin) characters.
      ID not written in English-language (Latin characters) will only be accepted if you have booked your exam selecting a proctor in your native language.
On the exam day

Phase 1- Prepare to start the exam

  • Ensure you have the same valid photo ID used for booking your exam.
  • Have an additional form of photo ID readily available for potential further verification on exam day.
  • Keep your mobile/cell phone switched on but silenced, placed out of reach, requiring you to move away from your chair to access it.
  • Be ready to complete the exam independently, without assistance from others.
  • Confirm that you do not possess any unauthorized items.
  • Make sure that the room where you are taking the exam respects the security requirements described in the previous paragraph (“Prepare your exam environment”)
  • There is no second monitors or other devices connected to your computer (unless it has been authorized for use during an open book exam)

Phase 2 – Connect to the Web Based Exam Driver

  • Click on the link in the ‘Web Proctor Session Link’ email that you received from PeopleCert after booking your exam.
  • You should have carried out the compatibility check described in the Phase 2 paragraph of the section “Before the exam day”, at least 24 hours prior to the exam time.
  • Check in to your exam 30 minutes prior the exam time. This frametime is recommended because you will have to:
    • Accept PeopleCert’s Non-Disclosure Agreement
    • Review the exam instructions thoroughly
    • Confirm you have read and agreed to PeopleCert’s exam rules
    • Scan your ID using either your web camera to capture a picture or by uploading an image of your ID
  • Initiate the connection with your proctor by clicking on ‘Start now’

From this moment onward, the invigilator will guide you through the security checks and begin your exam.

Second exam attempt

PeopleCert offers Take2 - Exam Re-Sit option. Take2 option enables the candidate to add a second exam attempt to their exam voucher. Candidates can retake their exam within 6 months from their first attempt.
The option can be purchased only inside a "course with exam" or "only exam" package. The option cannot be sold separately.

Official digital manual included

Starting from 1st February 2022, PeopleCert voucher codes include the official manual in digital format for the related certification (excluding PeopleCert DevOps, COBIT® 5, ITIL® v3 Foundation, all PPM Practitioner levels voucher codes).

Use of the manual during open book exams

During open book exams the use of the official manual is permitted.

Digital format manual

You can use your eBook:

  • Viewing your eBook on a second mobile device, such as smartphone, tablet or laptop.
  • If the device you are using for taking the examination supports a modern viewing interface (i.e.. having the latest OS and supported Browser updates installed), you will be presented with a digital copy of the eBook for all open book exams. Otherwise, the exam interface will make available the pdf standard copy of the eBook.

Paperback manual

You can use the paperback manual at these conditions:

  • Paperback manuals may be annotated and tabulated
  • No sticky notes and loose-leaf papers containing additional notes are allowed
  • Your Proctor will ask you to open the book and flip through the pages in front of the camera to allow you to use it during the examination
PeopleCert official mock exams (exam simulators)

PeopleCert gives the possibility to simulate the real online exam experience in order to get a preview of the exam procedure and to test how the ExamShield software works and it features. For many people, this could be an opportunity to test their preparation and tackle the anxiety that the exam procedure may cause. 

Extension of the online exam voucher

Vouchers are issued with 12 months validity (with the exception of specific communications by iLEARN). Any extension of the exam vouchers will be charged with a fee imposed by PeopleCert. Read more information about the extension of PeopleCert online exam vouchers validity.

Rescheduling of the online exam session

You can change date and time of the exam for free up to 48 hours before the date chosen. If you want to modify date and time from 48 to 4 hours before the exam, PeopleCert will apply a fee. Read more information about the rescheduling of PeopleCert online exam sessions.
