Project Management Institute is the world's leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession.
The PMI sponsors a certification program, issued by the most authoritative international organization in the field of Project Management.

The different levels of PMI that attest internationally the knowledge and experience in this field are:

  • CAPM® (Certified Associate in Project Management): introduced in 2002, this course is designed to provide a basic level of certification before the achievement of the professional level PMP. The course is addressed to the support team to the Project Manager, to the members of the Project Management Office and to those who are going to face the world as project management professionals.
  • PMP® (Project Management Professional): the PMP® program is designed to evaluate the professional knowledge in this field. The PMP course is addressed to the Project Managers and it is the more widely known and appreciated title in the world.

The courses cover the PMI Body of Knowledge® and the difference between the two levels is that before sitting the exam your experience in Project Management is assessed and based upon this, you are allowed to sit either the CAPM exam or the PMP exam. The CAPM certification is knowledge based and the PMP is knowledge and experience based.

Both courses allow you to get 35 PDUs, the official credits of PMI.
